Kitchener Coyote Factsheet — 2012
Dear Parents and Guardians:
I am writing today to let you know of two incidents at Our Lady of Fatima School that occurred over the last 24 hours that your child may have questions about.
The first incident involves a break-in overnight in one of the intermediate classrooms. The police attended the scene, repairs have been made and the classroom has been cleaned and sanitized. Students were in the library for the morning and returned back to their own classroom in the afternoon.
The second incident occurred when a coyote visited some classes when they were playing outside. Staff were able to get students in safely. The appropriate authorities were notified. As well, students were kept inside for the remainder of the day as a precaution.
At this time, we are suggesting that students avoid the forest area and the pathways along there. If they are taking the path, please have them walk with a few friends. As well, staff will be outside after school from both Our Lady of Fatima and Hillcrest to patrol the paths and along the forest as students leave school property.
