It’s almost here! The first day of school! This year we are changing our first day entry procedures. We will mirror the procedures we use for our Virtues assemblies. Below is an outline of the process.
- 8:35 – Staff will be on the yard to welcome students.
- 8:50 – Once the bell rings, everyone (Gr. 1-8) enter the gym through the external gym doors and sit in rows by grade as indicated on the signage on the walls. Parents are welcome to sit with their child in their grade rows or stand along the sides of the gym. Please be aware that space will be limited.
- 9:00 – Prayer and welcome
- 9:10 – Teachers are called to the front by the stage wall (as in our virtues assemblies). Starting with the primary grades, teachers call out their class lists and proceed to their classrooms with their teachers.
Please note: Once students begin proceeding to their classrooms, parents are to leave the building. Please do not follow your child to their classroom or wander throughout the school. A quick, clean break will help your child achieve a smooth transition.
Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the long weekend.
Reminder – SK Students will begin the school year on Wed, Sept 5th. They do not attend school on Sept 4th
Dear members of the Our Lady of Fatima community,
Welcome to the 2018 -19 school! We are looking forward to having another great year at OLOF. As always, staff, Father Freitas and our parish team, and the parent community, our goal is to provide our students with the opportunity to flourish in their academic, spiritual and emotional growth. Our Lady of Fatima’s staff is passionate about what we do and is dedicated to effectively collaborate to ensure that Christ is present for our children and that the love of learning is modelled & encouraged. Our school’s goals are to create a safe and accepting environment, improve learning and achievement, foster a healthy school community, and develop a growth mindset in all students so they may reach their full potential.
Parents and caregivers play a vital role in their child’s development as well. We invite you to participate in our students’ education by supervising on trips, volunteering for school activities, and taking an active role on school council. Taking a supportive, constructive interest in your child’s life at school is a major component that contributes to their sense of well-being and academic performance. Keep the lines of communication open! Monitor our website, news-feeds, twitter, and classroom communications to ‘stay in the know’ regarding events, trips, and initiatives. Celebrate with us all the great things that happen for our children at Our Lady of Fatima.
Looking forward to a fantastic year!
